After four staff members tested positive for COVID-19 at the Florence Rideout Elementary School in Wilton last week, the school has turned to remote learning while a large part of their staff is quarantining.
“I am sorry to have to make this decision but it is in the best interest for the safety of our staff and students,” Superintendent Bryan Lane said in the announcement of the student quarantine.
According to an announcement from the district, the fifth grade class entered remote learning on Wednesday after a staff member tested positive, and were initially instructed to quarantine through Dec. 14. However, on Thursday, the district announced it had been alerted to additional staff testing positive for the virus, resulting in a total of 11 other staff members having to quarantine due to close contact.
