(WMBF) - The Florence County Coroner’s Office has identified a woman who was found in a wooded area on Sunday. Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken said 50-year-old Mary Brown of Timmonsville was found inside a vehicle. Maj. Mike Nunn with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office added that the body was discovered near East Old Marion Highway and Ashby Road. The coroner said Brown’s body will be autopsied Wednesday morning at MUSC in Charleston in order to find out exactly how she died.

(WMBF) – Authorities in Florence County are investigating an apparent homicide early Friday morning. Deputies responded to reports of a shooting into a vehicle on Howe Springs Road around 12:40 a.m. and found one person dead, a press release from the Florence County Sheriff’s Office stated. The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The FCSO and the Florence County Coroner’s Office are investigating.

(WMBF) – One person is dead and another is hurt after a head-on crash in Florence County. According to Master Trooper Brian Lee with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 5:05 a.m. Thursday on U.S. 76. Lee said a Mitsubishi was traveling east on U.S. 76 in the westbound lane when the vehicle collided head-on with a Kia, also traveling westbound. A passenger in the Mitsubishi was killed, Lee confirmed. He added the driver of the Kia was taken to the hospital.

(WMBF) – The name of the man who died days after being tased by a Timmonsville police officer has been released. According to information from the Florence County Coroner’s Office, the man was stopped by an officer with the Timmonsville Police Department on April 8 for a traffic violation. A pursuit ensued after the initial stop and the man, identified as 33-year-old Charles Kevell Green, wrecked his vehicle as a result, coroner Keith von Lutcken said.
