an essential library for the Zen way. While I’ve stopped at twenty-four, I could easily have added ten more. But, this number feels to me as pushing to the outer limits of what might be a reasonable list. A stretch, perhaps, but not beyond the reach of the seriously interested. This very much is an introduction to the Zen that shapes my life.

From the Facebook event page: Meditation can positively impact mental and physical health by helping to gain a new perspective on a stressful situation, increasing self-awareness, helping to focus on the present, as well as increasing patience and tolerance, imagination and creativity, while reducing negative emotions. We are living in a time were stress and negative emotions abound, so this sound like a nice reset heading into the weekend. URBANA â With the coldest months of winter on the way, Unitarian Universalist Church of Urbana-Champaign will be giving away half its Christmas Eve offering to help ease the misery of utility shut-offs.
âIn this winter of sickness and desperation, it just seems like the right thing for us to do, to help our neighbors on Christmas Eve in this direct way,â said the churchâs lead pastor, the Rev. Florence Caplow.
She invites the rest of the community to join her church in donating to a new utility bill assistance fund to be administered by Cunningham Township.
The fund is intended to help pay utility bills for people when no other options are available.
