environment changes in the atmosphere. it pulls away from vietnam, makes a second landfall across the island of hainan in southern china and again at the same time producing a tremendous amount of rainfall between anywhere from around five to nine inches or as much as 235 millimeters in a 1 1/2-day period across that region. certainly the flooding concern remains high. the system still sitting in place. we expect additional flooding across portions of southern china. and then you look to the north thereby, this is ampil, is this th storm impacting areas around shanghai where about a quarter of a million people were impacted out of its path. not very menacing on satellite imagery, not very significant-looking but certainly had a lot of impacts across this region and now moving in just east of beijing where tens of millions are going to be impacted by this with heavy rainfall. there is a tropical depression we hold you about, number 13. sits right there across portions of the northern ar

visit for spring break. and unfortunately they will be dealing with the same things we had yesterday. damaging winds as well as hail and isolated tornadoes. so let s talk broke the timing of this particular storm. we have two waves. the stronger wave is the wave that will make its way through first. we re talking late this morning into the afternoon. and then another wave behind it, that wave is just going to be rain. the problem is with both of those, that will add to the flooding concern. not just for where the rain falls, but also all these rivers. we have over 90 rivers potentially could reach minor flood stage over the coming days. and i m not a good golfer by any means, but i would say that strong to severe thunderstorms, gusty winds of 20 miles per hour not exactly ideal conditions for golf, but that is what they will have today at augusta. 90% chance of storms and again keep in mind that it is also going to have very gusty winds along with it. that is a good guess, not a grea
the rain is coming in sideways and it is difficult to see at times. in addition to the flooding concern, neil, there is also a concern about tornadoes. we have been under numerous tornado watches and warnings here in galveston alone but we want to show you some pictures now that are coming into us from an apparent twister touchdown in the houston area. the national weather service confirmed a tornado touching down in an area known as sienna plantation and about 50 homes we understand have been damaged and new video is coming in of that, first respond res are reporting a few minor injuries right now, nothing major nothing life threatening, again 50 homes are still damaged and if we can show you additional video this is just north of us in bolivar peninsula. where we are on galveston it s a tiny slip of land out in the gulf of mexico so just north of
moderate hateful. now we re talking about respectable hateful coming in. and the butte fire taps into some moisture in the next five days. maybe quarter of an inch, maybe half an inch. additional hateful in the forecast there. where we had hateful anticipate it was not just any hateful, it was out of 4,000 september days on record for downtown los angeles, this was the second wettest day ever observed for the city. picking up over 2.3 inches of hateful. record hateful. that s the most hateful they ve seen in two years in any one given date. culver city to santa monica. what manges it even more impressive, looks a the trend, september, up with of the driest months of the year. you average about a quarter of an inch of hateful. we are. picking up nearly three inches with this one particular event. flooding concern across that region. conditions have improved. but we want to take you in towards monmouth mountain. 11,000 feet high. they typically get about 400 inches of snow per year.
