these are the same rains in texas and much of the midwest. that rain is not the biggest threat. that is because high winds are expected as well. and maria molina is following all of this. she joins us from the weather center. good morning patti ann and heather. the storm system is on the move. it will produce rain in the southeast but we are not really talking a flooding concern. light rain in general you will need the umbrella dau umbrellas. you are talking gusts up to 40 miles per hour closer toward the coast with a storm system. that will be lasting through out the day today. if you are doing any flying in any airport across parts of the great lakes and parts of the northeast and down into western parts of north carolina you are going to be possibly looking at weather related delays due to the strong winds. company wise behind the storm temperatures in the 40 s chicago, minneapolis.
starting today and then as far as parts of the east as we head into the end of the work week. we already have winter storm warnings in effect and also winter storm watches because significant snowfall is possible and you re also looking at strong winds gusting up to 60 miles an hour out here. take a look at how much snowfall we re expecting. we re looking at to a foot and even higher amounts in the higher elevations of colorado, parts of utah and sections of montana. now, in colorado you re going to start to see the impact by tuesday but today already seeing them across parts of the northern rockies. now, on the warm side of the storm system, we re also looking at very heavy rains from texas up to the midwest. several inches of rain will be possible so we are looking although a flooding concern out here and you mentioned tornados. we re already looking at that threat today in place across sections of kansas and tomorrow and wednesday, areas across texas, oklahoma and even into kansas a

indra petersons is here. we have had morning all weather. we need good news, right? it s gorgeous outside. high pressure is in place and warm temperatures going from the south stretching into the northeast today. and just check these out. temperatures well above normal. new york city today looking for 81. want to guess what average is? 69. that is how nice it is out there for fall. d.c. 84 today and cincinnati also looking for the 80s so we love this. the warmth is not only in the northeast but thanks to that high out there, it s into the southeast also. a lot of 80s and atlanta 81 and orlando today, 88 degrees! the differences in the southeast, yes, it s still warm but the highs out there so with that we are pulling in the moisture off the gulf. looking for moisture from texas all the way through about mississippi or so. nothing major. just a couple of showers popping up with that moisture coming out of there. take a look at the weather models only an inch, maybe two inches at bes
