Through businesses like airbnb, you have to let the city know. Its a law thats been in effect for two years now. But heres the problem. Just last month, airbnb says it had over 7,000 unique hosts in San Francisco. The city has received a little more than 1600 registration applications. Prop f would have required airbnb to help crackdown on unregistered rentals but it was rejected by San Francisco voters in november after the Company Launched an 8 million ad campaign. We tried to deal with the proposition is give airbnb and other companies some skin in the game. We say to them, if you list a unit that isnt registered or that is illegal, you can be fined.
