CSPAN3 The Civil War Shermans 1865 South Carolina Campaign July 12, 2024

First we are going to talk about general william t. Sherman and what he did in 1865, at least the first stage of his campaign in 1865 when he left the state of georgia and began to move north into South Carolina. He built up a little bit of a base at the conclusion of that campaign and began to talk about heading north. The conclusion of the savanna campaign had a couple questions behind it, political questions, which he did not want to deal with, and a couple of military, after it was agreed he would be permitted to move to the north and go straight into South Carolina. There were repercussions for that on the confederate side and the folks on the Southern Side would begin to react to that. Of course, even as sherman was leaving atlanta, there were folks on the confederate side that reacted to what was going on. Across town at the san jose armory, Real Estate Developer urban community has brought together a network of business and Community Leaders to help form a new nonprofit called san jose ship kits. We have at least 119 people who have lost their lives in the pandemic here in the bay area. Santa clara county remains the hot spot in the region with more than 1,400 cases. Both Alameda County and San Francisco both have more than 700 confirmed cases. Further north lake county has three confirmed cases in mendocino county. Heres a look back at about 2 00 this morning when some of the light to moderate showers moved through the south bay. More than a tenth of an inch in the mountains and 400 in the valley. Little slippery this morning, but you can see that has moved on and all of our neighborhoods are showing pretty dry weather right now even though we have pretty cloudy conditions out there still. Temperatures in the low to mid50s through 7 00 and stay at the 50s in the coast and we in h the low 60s at noon and mid 60s at 4 00 with more sunshine than yesterday and back into the 50s.
