The Punjab & Haryana High Court has imposed a cost of Rs.50 thousand on a woman who failed to turn up before the Magistrate to record her statement about the settlement of the matrimonial dispute.
One Vikas Bohat was booked for outraging modesty of a woman. The High Court quashed the FIR after the parties entered into a settlement. However, the Court imposed a unique condition.
Observing that "there is no explicit guidelines governing the issue", the Punjab and Haryana High Court has referred the matter of quashing of FIR on the basis of "partial compromise" to the larger.
The Delhi High Court has issued notice to the Delhi Police on a plea filed by NewsClick founder Prabir Purkayastha challenging the FIR filed against him under provisions of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).
