CLEMSON, S.C. The Clemson women's tennis team made two appearances in the ITA's preseason rankings released on Tuesday, with Cristina Mayorova earning the No. 77 singles spot and the doubles pair of Ali DeSpain and Samantha Buyckx claiming No. 17 nationally. Mayorova will enter her junior year coming off a sophomore season in which she took down two nationally ranked opponents while playing primarily from Court 1. She finished the 2022 season ranked No. 103. DeSpain and Buyckx went 13-7 in doubles play last season, including a 3-2 record against ranked opponents. The two brought down the No. 11 ranked Virginia pairing of Emma Navarro and Hibah Shaikh. They also held a 5-4 lead over the then top-ranked pair in the nation of Fiona Crawley and Elizabeth Scotty, but the match was abandoned. Mayorova, Buyckx/DeSpain Earn Place in Final Rankings

CLEMSON, S.C.  Sophomore Cristina Mayorova and the doubles pair of Samantha Buyckx and Ali DeSpain each earned a spot on the final ITA rankings of the 2022 season. Mayorova was tabbed as the No. 103 singles player in the nation, while Buyckx and DeSpain slot into the No. 34 spot on the doubles list. Mayorova battled for the Tigers all year, primarily from the No. 1 singles court. Over the course of the spring season she earned four conference wins and two against ranked opponents. The Tigers' No. 1 doubles pair was a force throughout the 2022 campaign, marching its way to a 10-4 record in dual matches, including a 6-3 ACC record. They are the first Tiger pair to be in the final rankings since Fernanda Navarro and Marie Leduc in 2019.
