CLEMSON, S.C. Sophomore Cristina Mayorova and the doubles pair of Samantha Buyckx and Ali DeSpain each earned a spot on the final ITA rankings of the 2022 season. Mayorova was tabbed as the No. 103 singles player in the nation, while Buyckx and DeSpain slot into the No. 34 spot on the doubles list. Mayorova battled for the Tigers all year, primarily from the No. 1 singles court. Over the course of the spring season she earned four conference wins and two against ranked opponents. The Tigers' No. 1 doubles pair was a force throughout the 2022 campaign, marching its way to a 10-4 record in dual matches, including a 6-3 ACC record. They are the first Tiger pair to be in the final rankings since Fernanda Navarro and Marie Leduc in 2019. CLEMSON, S.C. Samantha Buyckx and Ali DeSpain have qualified as one of the 32 doubles pairs to compete for the National Doubles Championship in Champaign, Illinois from May 23-28. The duo is the first from Clemson to be selected for nationals since Marie-Alexandre Leduc and Fernanda Navarro in 2019. Buyckx and DeSpain were brilliant for the Tigers all season, boasting a 13-7 record, including a 10-4 mark in dual matches and a 6-3 record in ACC play. In the five times they battled other nationally ranked pairs, they went 3-2. Most notably, they defeated the No. 11 ranked pair in Emma Navarro and Hibah Shaikh 6-1 late in the season.
