Everton have agreed trial forms with highly-rated Chelsea academy prospect Malik Mothersille in view of signing him on a permanent basis.Mothersille, who came off the bench for Everton’s Under-21s in their game against Liverpool on Monday evening, is out of contract after not agreeing a new deal with Chelsea despite several months of talks.Chelsea are due compensation for the 19-year-old forward because he is an academy-trained player. The two clubs have yet to agree terms but discussions are continuing because neither party wants it to go to an arbitration panel as yet.Mothersille was top scorer for Chelsea Under-18s in 2021-22 and scored four goals against EFL opponents Leyton Orient and Peterborough in the Papa John’s Trophy last season.He still has offers from other European clubs on the table but there is optimism an agreement between Everton and Chelsea will be formalised soon. Nottingham Forest have re-established a working arrangement with George Syrianos, the club’s former head of recruitment, after concluding that it was a mistake to sever ties with him last season.
Syrianos, who joined the club from VfB Stuttgart in May 2021, played an instrumental role in identifying the transfer targets who helped Steve Cooper’s team win promotion to the Premier League two seasons ago.
He also identified a number of players last summer, including Taiwo Awoniyi, Moussa Niakhate and Orel Mangala, who were key catalysts in the team retaining their top-flight status.

Arsenal have confirmed the signing Declan Rice from West Ham in a £105million deal. The Athletic reported earlier this month that the midfielder had been given permission to undergo a medical and finalise personal terms after the two clubs had settled on a transfer fee of £100million plus £5million in add-ons in June. The fee for Rice is a Premier League record for a British player.
