More teachers turn-up to vote on the final day of the FTU National Elections Saturday 17/04/2021
More teachers are turning up to vote in the second and final day of the Fiji Teachers Union National Elections today.
The Fijian Elections Office recorded a preliminary turnout of 914 voters at all the 22 polling stations nationwide yesterday.
Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem says they have surpassed the total turnout in the last election.
He says there are 4,917 members of this union and it is only proper that all of them are able to vote.

There are 4,917 members of the FTU.
The Fijian Elections Office confirmed that as of 2pm today, they recorded a preliminary turnout of 1,931 voters.
The results of the count will then be related to the Fijian Elections Office from the different counting stations and later released to the FTU.
Three of the polling stations used touch screen voting machines while there was manual voting in the rest of the polling stations.

Agni Deo Singh retains General Secretary position
Agni Deo Singh has retained the position of General Secretary after the Fiji Teachers Union National Elections that ended yesterday.
Singh is one of the union’s longest-serving members.
The other office bearers are Muniappa Goundar who has been elected as the President.
Nukul Barman, Pranesh Sharma and Ajeshni Nand are the new Vice Presidents.
Rajnesh Lingam has been elected as the Assistant General Secretary, Sashi Shandil as the General Treasurer and Brij Bhan Sing as the Publicity Officer.

Kirti Kumar.
A primary school teacher, Kirti Kumar says she expects her burden to lessen as the number of students in each class is increasing which contributes to discipline problems.
Kumar who is from Valelevu was one of the teachers who voted in the Fiji Teachers Union National Elections at FTU headquarters in Suva this afternoon.
She says teachers have too much paper work which consumes a lot of time and makes it difficult for them to concentrate on students.
