The winner was Mrs Bennet from Pride and Prejudice, of course.
All that’s left to do now is buy a card for our real mothers!

World Book Day: The Best Of 2020

Today is World Book Day, an annual event held to promote reading for pleasure among children and young people.
But just because we might not strictly be “young” anymore doesn’t mean that we can’t enjoy it, too!
Regular visitors to the “Friend” website will know that we read a lot, and that we’re happy to share our reviews and give recommendations.

All I’ve ever known during my working life is a busy office, lots of friendships, support and chat. Even during quiet times when everyone’s reading there’s still a buzz. Swapping all that for my kitchen table has been tough.
Working on a magazine is such a collaborative thing, and the close-knit teamwork is a huge part of the “Friend”. It’s been a difficult adjustment when you find yourself on your own, but we all knew that there would be a time for optimism.
