Man charged with animal cruelty after forcing dog to jump with 10-pound weight on its neck, cops say

Felipe Echevarria, 33, of West Deptford Township, was heard on a video posted to his Instagram page in which a dog is shown with a 10-pound weight tied around her neck, according to his affidavit of probable cause.
He allegedly ordered the dog to jump onto the hood of a car and then the roof of the vehicle, police said.
Echevarria provided a taped statement admitting to the incident, according to police.
The page on which the video appeared was not visible as of Friday afternoon.

Two South Jersey residents were charged with animal cruelty this week after a SWAT team served a warrant at their home.
Gloucester County SWAT served a “knock and announce” search warrant at a home in the 1600 block of Atkins Avenue in West Deptford Township around 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, according to township police.
The warrant stemmed from an animal cruelty investigation conducted by West Deptford police, the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office and county animal control.
Felipe Echevarria, 33, and Brittany M. Morgan, 34, both of West Deptford, were charged with animal cruelty violations and released on summonses pending future court appearances, police said.
