It’s a heartbreakingly familiar formula.
A shooter opens fire in a business, school or store. Confusion sets in for those who don’t immediately recognize the boom of gunshots. Chaos erupts as people scramble to escape death. Frantic calls for first responders. A swarm of police vehicles. Agonized families wait for word of their loved ones.
This time, it happened in Central Indiana.
Eight people were killed and several others injured after a gunman opened fire at the FedEx Ground Plainfield Operations Center on Indianapolis’ southwest side late Thursday evening. The victims are Karli Smith, 19; Samaria Blackwell, 19; Matthew R Alexander, 32; Amarjit Sekhon, 48; Jasvinder Kaur, 50; Amarjeet Kaur Johal, 66; Jaswinder Singh, 68; and John Weisert, 74.
