  The Delta State Government has denied receiving £4.2 million looted by its former governor, James Ibori.  The Accountant General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris on Tuesday while appearing before the Senate committee investigating the status of recovered loot noted that the fund has been returned to the state. However, the Chief Press Secretary to the state government, Olisa Ifejika, on Wednesday countered the Accountant General’s claim, insisting the oil-rich state is yet to receive the money. “We appreciate the efforts of the Federal Government to return the recovered loot to Delta State where it rightly belongs. But the truth is that the money has not hit the Delta State government’s account.

Daily Post Nigeria Published The federal government has adopted a National Diaspora Policy for Nigeria. Foreign Affairs Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama, confirmed this during a chat with reporters after the cabinet meeting chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari. Onyeama noted that the policy was formulated by the Nigerian Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM). The minister said it would formalise the relationship between the government and nationals abroad. “There are 17 or more million Nigerians in the diaspora and they constitute a very important part of the Nigerian community.” Onyeama added that the policy aims to promote national development through engagement with the Nigerians overseas. He further explained that the scheme would address voting by citizens who reside outside Nigeria and the deployment of their skills in different sectors.

Nigerian Senate invites Monguno, Zainab, other over N7 5bn withdrawal from treasury

Daily Post Nigeria Published The Senate on Wednesday asked the three officials of the Buhari administration to appear by next Tuesday. They are National Security Adviser Babagana Monguno, Finance Minister Zainab Ahmed, and Accountant General of the Federation Ahmed Idris. The Red Chamber of the National Assembly is seeking answers on secret withdrawal of N7.5billion from the treasury. The money is two percent of the National Automotive Council Design & Development Council (NADDC) levy account domiciled with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). NADDC Director General, Jelani Tukur said the agency had written to Ahmed and Idris for clarifications. He mentioned the withdrawal of N3.7billion as loan to NAFCON, withdrawal of N3.8billion for security personnel car loan scheme, and another withdrawal of N2.3billion as loan to Steyrs Nigeria Limited.
