in the united states in the federal court now the letter reads in part, quote, we are deeply concerned that the administration and the department of justice are moving forward with plans to prosecute him in federal court for clear violations of laws war that occurred in iraq. the senators believed the operative should be tried in guantanamo bay until a military court because he allegedly trained iraqis to use ieds and mortars and rockets against u.s. soldiers. that his activities in iraq directly led to the death of five u.s. soldiers. the letter continues with a series of questions from the senators. quote. when was the department of justice informed by the fbi that a criminal investigation of actions of the daqduq and his role in death of u.s. soldiers in 2007 been initiated? has the department determined whether he will be prosecuted in a federal civilian court. a short time ago we spoke with a justice department spokesman who shade they have no comment. jon, you a few minutes ago s
feeling was at least on the military side that pretty quickly there would be federal court indictment in the southern district of new york. once we got to december 09 and then january of 2010, my understanding is that there was not an indictment at that time, so the military made the decision to withdraw the prejudice the military charges against the men. in sort of layman s terms what this means is that the military was able to preserve their position so that perhaps in the future if case came back to them, they could charge the men again. so to answer your question, yes, we would be effectively starting again at square one. jenna: just makes you think about those paper airplanes, what antics are next. catherine, thanks for sharing the story. jon: yeah, that s creepy. well, there s desperation growing in japan with nuclear workers there using everything from bath salts to shredded newspapers to try to find and plug a leak that s now spewing radioactive water into the pacific ocean.
