Tourists Really Want to Visit a North Idaho Lake This Year
Vacations are an interesting thing. You can ask each person you know what their dream vacation would be and you d get a different answer from each of them. I had this conversation with some of my family members over the weekend as we discussed a possible summer vacation. We each had a different idea on where we should go, ranging from Cancun, Bear Lake, a California beach, and New Zealand. Knowing that we all have different ideas of a great location for a vacation, the results of a recent study are kind of intriguing and flattering for Idaho.
More Mountain Lions Seen Near Homes in Wood River Valley
HAILEY, Idaho (KLIX)-With recent snow fall in Idaho s central mountains more people have reported seeing mountain lions near their homes.
The Idaho Department of Fish and Game recently announced reports of mountain lion sightings in the Wood River, Pine and Featherville areas increased following storms that dropped several inches of snow. Since late January people have reported sightings and encounters with the large felines as the snow pushed them into the small mountain communities. So far, according to Idaho Fish and Game, there have not been any reported attacks on people or pets. The winter of 2019-2020 Idaho Fish and Game reported three fatal attacks on dogs and several non-fatal attacks.
The Idaho Department of Fish and Game held a virtual open house last Monday to introduce its proposed moose, bighorn sheep and mountain goat hunting regulations for the 2021-22 season in the Magic Valley region.
Public comment is due Wednesday, Dec. 30, according to Regional Wildlife Manager Mike McDonald. To make a comment, call 208-324-4359.
Hereâs what to know about the departmentâs proposed regulations for each animal:
Moose
Moose weren t always common in the Smoky Mountains of south-central Idaho, Magic Valley Regional Wildlife Biologist Sierra Robatcek said during the open house. But, thanks to the reintroduction of over 30 moose starting in 1986 between Boise and Sun Valley, populations reached ârobustâ enough levels by 2000 for Fish and Game to offer its first moose hunt in the region in 2001.
