Police have imposed restrictions under Section 144 of CrPC for a month starting Tuesday in wake of farmers' protest call, prohibiting any unlawful gathering. Around 10,000-15,000 cops, including reserve forces, have been deployed at Singhu, Tikri and Ghazipur borders. Police also plan to turn Bawana stadium in northwest Delhi into a temporary jail.
Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora has issued orders for invoking section 144 (prohibitory orders) for a period of 30 days, till March 12 in the national capital in view of ‘Delhi Chalo March call given by farmers for Tuesday.
In the second round of talks on Monday, the Centre agreed to withdraw cases against the farmers from the 2020-21 agitation, but couldn’t reach a consensus on MSP. An understanding was also reached to compensate the families of the deceased farmers from the previous protests
