The talks between the protesting farmers unions and the central government remained deadlocked even in the 10th round of the talks on Wednesday. Union agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar however said the talks were held in a cordial environment even though there were some naram-garam (heated) moments.

Niyat theek hone chahiye (your intent should be good), said agricultural economist Ashok Gulati, on being asked whether he believes the Supreme Court-appointed Committee will be able to complete its work in the given time frame and bring all farmers outfits to the table.
Appointed by a three-judge bench of the Supreme Court headed by CJI AS Bobde, the committee has invited farmers representatives for talks on January 21. The committee held its first meeting on Tuesday at Pusa campus in New Delhi to chart a future course of action.
Ninth Round of Centre-Farmer Talks Ends in Deadlock Again
The unions, while agreeing that they too wanted the impasse to end, reiterated that the governmentâs proposal was nothing new.

New Delhi: Days after the Supreme Court attempted to broker a truce between protesting farmersâ unions and the Centre, the ninth round of discussions held between the two parties on Friday ended in yet another deadlock.
