New Delhi: In a strong reaction to the UK parliamentary debate on the farmers’ protest, India on Tuesday summoned the British high commissioner Alex Willis to lodge a protest against the âunwarranted and tendentiousâ discussion was a âgross interferenceâ in Indiaâs internal affairs.
âForeign Secretary summoned the British High Commissioner and conveyed strong opposition to the unwarranted and tendentious discussion on agricultural reforms in India in the British Parliament,â said the Ministry of External Affairs’ press note.

Jitu Singh, a farmer from western Uttar Pradeshâs Shamli, along with his brothers, was returning home from the Ghazipur border Thursday evening on their tractor. They had been a part of the farmers’ protest for more than a week and had also taken part in the tractor rally in Delhi on January 26 in which certain sections of farmers had resorted to violence.
