Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar said that the talks between the farmers and the Centre were ‘destined to fail’ as CM Bhagwant Mann ‘had everything to gain from the failure of these talks’.
In view of farmers march, Delhi Police has increased security at borders and have further fortified roadblocks to preven farmers getting into the national capital. Tikri and Singhu borders have been sealed and cops have warned traffic congestion also.
On Tuesday, the Gurgaon Police arrested under section Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) Section(s) 107/151, and later released 38 farmers for violating orders under CrPC Section 144 in the state, after Manesar farmers called for a march towards Delhi.
After the fourth round of talks, farmers plan to continue their Delhi Chalo march on February 21 if their demands are not met. Discussions will also be held on the government s proposal regarding MSP. Farmer leaders emphasized that the march will continue until their demands are fulfilled. Talks between farmers and Union Ministers have been ongoing, with the government proposing a contract with cooperative societies to purchase farmers products at MSP for the next 5 years.
His remarks came after a meeting between farmer leaders and a panel of three Union ministers on Sunday and amid thousands of protesting farmers camping at the Punjab-Haryana border as part of their 'Delhi Chalo' march
