Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar said that the talks between the farmers and the Centre were ‘destined to fail’ as CM Bhagwant Mann ‘had everything to gain from the failure of these talks’.
After positive and extensive discussions, Union Minister Piyush Goyal stated that farmer leaders will announce their decision on government proposals by today. The talks included ideas beneficial for Punjab, Haryana, and the country s economy. The Cotton Corporation of India will enter a 5-year agreement with farmers to purchase crops at MSP. The government proposed cooperative societies like NCCF and NAFED to buy products from farmers on MSP for 5 years without quantity limits. The agitating farmers have raised demands including legal guarantees for MSPs and loan waivers. Talks remain inconclusive as farmers camp at the Punjab-Haryana border.
