Covid-19 vaccination: Co-WIN app not for public, government clarifies after glitches

New Delhi: The Union health ministry on Monday clarified that the
Co-WIN app is only for administrators and that people who want to book an appointment for Covid-19 vaccination should instead visit the Co-WIN website.
The ministry gave the
clarification amid reported
glitches in doing registrations as India opened up vaccination for senior citizens and those aged 45 and above with comorbidities. Registration and booking for an appointment for vaccination is to be done through Co-WIN Portal: http://cowin.gov.in., said the health ministry in a tweet.

Union Health and Family Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on Friday hailed India s decision to give nod to emergency authorisation for two Coronavirus vaccines. He praised the country s performance in developing vaccines at such a short span of time. It would be a reality to vaccinate the entire population in the country against Covid-19 after prioritising risk groups, he said after reviewing the dry run of administering Covid-19 vaccine at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital in Chennai.
