Chesterfield Schools Superintendent Merv Daugherty will propose changing the two year-round schools in the county back to traditional-calendar schools.
"Participating schools are located in areas where 50% of students qualify for free or reduced-price meals," a Chesterfield Schools spokesperson shared in an email about the program.
Falling Creek joined Bellwood Elementary by welcoming students back for the county’s year-round schooling program. Students spend their 180 days of instruction spread over four nine-week sessions.
While Superintendent Jason Kamras was not available for an interview Tuesday, he previously told CBS 6 the goal behind his proposal is to improve academic outcomes.
