TAUNTON A 34-year-old Brockton man who allegedly entered onto a Taunton couple s property and violently assaulted one of them in what is alleged to be a hate crime, was deemed dangerous and ordered held without bail at a Fall River Superior Court dangerousness hearing.
Michael Cates Jr. was indicted in November 2020 by a grand jury on charges of a civil rights violation, assault and battery to intimidate with injury and aggravated assault and battery.
Cates was also indicted on a charge of assault and battery on a fellow inmate at the Bristol County House of Corrections that allegedly occurred in August 2020 while he was being held in relation to the hate crime charge.
