Deputies returned fire and struck the suspect who then ran through an alleyway in the direction of other deputies with that gun. Still in his hand, a second deputy shot the man again and he fell to the ground. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition. And tonight weve learned that hes been transported to a hospital in the sacramento area for additional treatment. He has not been identified yet, but the Sheriffs Office says that he is a resident of sonoma valley. The 2 deputies involved in the shooting have been placed on paid administrative leave. Investigators tell us the suspect was terrorizing the downtown area, trying to break the windows of cars and businesses. We walked around and didnt see any damage. But police say the suspect shot at them when they tried to stop him. A nice night out for people in downtown sonoma was disrupted saturday night after deputies say they were forced to shoot an armed man. The scene broke out on west napa and Second Street after deputies were told a man was trying to damage cars in a Shopping Center parking lot when they found the man they discovered he was armed with a gun and was trying to break the window of a limo. Deputies told him to drop the gun. The suspect refused.
