Mayor vincent gray knew of the scheme to funnel illegal money into the Shadow Campaign before gray ever announced that he would run for office. He says that gray agreed to call him uncle earl to keep his identity a secret, and he said that during the campaign, gray personally asked thompson for 400,000 in cash for efforts to get out the vote. And thompson told the judge that he gave 10,000 to a Family Member of vincent gray and additional 40,000 to a close friend of vincent grays for home improvement. In addition to all of the money that was funneled to mayor gr grays campaign, thompson admitted to funneling another 2. 5 million to various campaigns from 2006 to 2012 and that is d. C. Council races as well as federal races for house, the senate and including several primaries that Hillary Clinton ran in.
