Mask mandate lifted in McCall

May 17, 2021 The central Idaho resort town of McCall has lifted its facial mask mandate which had been in place since July to stop the spread of the coronavirus. The 4-1 vote by the city council came despite a warning by St. Luke’s McCall officials that lifting the order could be premature with the summer tourism season nearing. Wearing face masks in indoor public spaces is now “recommended” but not required in McCall under a public health advisory issued by Central District Health, which has jurisdiction over Valley County. Lewiston School District to discuss mask mandate this week

April 13, 2021 The Lewiston School Board will vote on potential changes to the district’s coronavirus mask mandate at a special meeting Thursday. The district’s mask requirement was enacted last fall after a spike in COVID-19 cases at two schools. The Lewiston Tribune reports Superintendent Bob Donaldson gave the board his blessing to roll back the mandate after hearing concerns from several parents at the public comment period who spoke about their children’s declining mental health. With widespread availability of the COVID-19 vaccine, Donaldson said the school should have a “pretty high level of vaccination.” According to a recent staff poll, more than 70 percent of district staff said they would get the vaccine.

Lewiston City Council Extends Mask Mandate

January 25, 2021 The Lewiston City Council voted to extend the city’s mask mandate for another 90 days. The mandate was initially enacted in November. Mayor Pro Tem Kathy Schroeder and Councilors Bob Blakey and Kevin Kelly supported Councilor John Bradbury’s motion to extend, and Mayor Mike Collins and Councilors Cari Miller and John Pernsteiner voted against it. Public health officials will also provide an update on the state of the pandemic after 45 days. Tags: City of Lewiston, COVID-19, Facial Mask Mandate Search
