Social networking giant Meta announced Tuesday that it would soon reinstate former US president Donald Trump's accounts on Facebook and Instagram with "new guardrails," two years after he was banned over the 2021 assault on the Capitol.
The restoration comes as Trump, who is facing criminal probes by the Justice Department, seeks another run for the White House in 2024. Facebook and Instagram have been key platforms for online political outreach and fundraising.
Earlier, Elon Musk led Twitter revoked the ban on former US President Donald Trump from the platform, which was put on him after the violence at the Capitol on January 6,2021.
