A woman wanted in connection with the killing of a Palm Springs man in his home has been arrested and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, Riverside County jail records show.
Lisa Vargas, 53, is the mother of the bounty hunter accused of firing the fatal shots, according to police. The Riverside County Sheriff s Department, which is investigating the incident, has not said why she was permitted to leave the scene of the shooting.
Fabian Herrera, 36, has been charged with murder in the fatal shooting of David Spann, 33. Herrera is also charged with possession of a firearm, ammunition and body armor as a convicted felon.

The woman wanted in a shooting involving an alleged bail agent has been arrested and booked for murder. Lisa Vargas, 53, evaded capture for nearly a month. Palm Springs Police confirmed to News Channel 3 that Vargas is now in custody. According to Riverside County jail inmate records, Vargas was arrested on Thursday at 3:35 p.m. in Whittier.
Vargas was wanted in connection to a shooting that left 33-year-old Palm Springs resident David Spann dead during an attempted fugitive recovery at Indian Canyon Gardens on the morning of April 23.
Defense Attorney: ‘Bail agent’ charged with murder shoots gun at command of PSPD officer
New questions are arising after Fabian Herrera s defense attorney, Rajan Maline, told News Channel 3 on Friday that Herrera fired a gun at the command of a Palm Springs Police officer during a tense confrontation the morning of April 23. Herrera, 36, was charged with murder in the killing of David Spann, 33, at Spann s Palm Springs home. Mr. Spann was wanted by a bail agency for violating terms of his bail. He was not wanted by the courts, he was not wanted by law enforcement and there was no warrant out for his arrest, Palm Springs Police Lt. William Hutchinson told News Channel 3 s Shelby Nelson in a previous interview.
