As many as 16 people including actors Ragini Dwivedi and Sanjjanaa Galrani were arrested by the police as part of the investigation.
The Central Crime Branch of the Bengaluru City Police probing the Sandalwood drugs case confirmed the arrest of Vinay Kumar, an accused in the case who was “absconding since September.”
According to Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Patil, the accused was arrested on Monday and was later produced before the court. “Vinay Kumar, one of the absconding accused in the drugs case registered at Cottonpet police station has been arrested. The court has sent him to police custody till December 28,” he said.

A special CBI court in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday has found Father Thomas Kottoor and Sister Sephy guilty in the murder case of Catholic Sister Abhaya. The verdict came 28 years after Sister Abhaya, a 19-year-old Catholic nun,
was murdered and her body dumped inside the well of a convent in Kerala’s Kottayam.
Following the arrest,
Suresh Raina released a statement, saying he was not aware of the local timings and protocols. “Suresh was in Mumbai for a shoot which extended to late hours and was invited by a friend for a quick dinner post the same prior to him taking his flight back to Delhi. He was not aware of the local timings and protocols,” Raina’s statement read.
“Once pointed out, he immediately complied with the procedures laid out by the authorities and regrets the unfortunate and unintentional incident. He always holds rules and laws laid down by governing bodies with the highest regard and will continue to do so in the future as well,” the statement said.

Karima Baloch who had escaped Pakistan in 2016 to take refuge in Canada was found dead at Harbourfront in Canada.
According to news reports, local sources said the police found her body drowned off on an island near Toronto’s lakeshore. Her husband Hammal Haider and brother have identified her body, which is with the police.

The Karnataka Police have intensified the search for a gang of nine robbers who allegedly stormed into a house near Dharmasthala in Dakshina Kannada district off the Bengaluru-Mangaluru highway and decamped with cash and gold ornaments worth lakhs.
According to Dakshina Kannada police, the nine-member gang tied the house owner to a chair and stabbed his wife before looting the house and fleeing with valuables.
Explaining the incident, Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police B M Laxmi Prasad said the dacoits robbed the victims of Rs 1.5 lakh in cash and 240 grams of gold ornaments after breaking into the house at around 2.15 am.
