Social media companies, including Google, Facebook, WhatsApp, Koo, Sharechat, Telegram and LinkedIn, have shared details with the IT ministry as per the requirement of the new IT rules.
Social media platforms like Google, Facebook, WhatsApp, Linked In, Telegram and others, except Twitter, on Friday agreed to abide by the Indian government’s new IT regulations.
Pichai said that the comapny is committed to work constructively with governments and that a free and open internet is foundational with India having long traditions of that.
Sources in the government on Friday said that Twitter is still not following the new IT rules completely. On the other hand, most other major social media intermediaries have complied.
