Prime Minister Narendra Modi today attacked the Opposition bloc INDIA after the Supreme Court rejected requests for 100 per cent VVPAT verification of votes punched into electronic voting machines (EVMs).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the Supreme Court s rejection of petitions for cross-verifying EVM votes with VVPAT, stating it shattered the dreams of those seeking to mislead the nation. The SC upheld EVM usage, rejecting calls for 100% verification, affirming the existing protocol and dismissing pleas for a return to paper ballots.
The Supreme Court had, on Wednesday, reserved its judgement on the clutch of petitions claiming the polling devices can be tinkered with to manipulate the results.
The Supreme Court will pronounce judgment tomorrow on a batch of petitions seeking 100% verification of the votes recorded in the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) with the Voter Verifiable Paper.
