Steve why is it so competitive before . Major youre seeing a shift in the suburbs of ohio that just a few decades ago or years ago, these suburbs outside cincinnati and columbus and cleveland, they were the base of the republican party. Thats how john kasich would have been elected, or even george bush. Those suburbs are largely blue. They are saying this is not the party we were a part of and they have left and they are voting blue for statehouse seats, sheriff brown, democratic mayors and councilmembers, and theyre not going to vote for donald trump this november. You take away the old base of the republican party, and it is tossup or either democrat, which it is, that makes ohio a much tougher state for republicans. That means they have to run up in the rural parts of the state, but these suburbs are a large voting bloc in the state of ohio, some republicans have really lost their old base. The second thing that has happened is the ohio economy, before covid, was already struggling.

The s p will be down and the nasdaq is off about 20 points. No serious selloff at this point. But we do have dramatic stories breaking this morning. Overnight, a young black man, 16 years old, shot and killed in the seattle chop zone. Its the fourth shooting there in nine days. Democrat mayor durkin said the zone would be removed. It is still there. In new york city, the city votes on taking a billion dollars out of the budget the police budgets. Mayor deblasio calls it real redistribution. This follows a devastating blow, the citys 15 billion theater industry will stay closed until next year. The democrats trash the president and mt. Rushmore. A tweet from the dnc says the president will be quote, glorifying White Supremacy when he attends a fireworks display there on july fourth. But its okay. They took

So i think thats been something weve seen with the pandemic and with these recent protests. How did your book come about, whats the genesis of it . Ive written a book called the residence and a couple of other books about the white house and ive always been fascinated by what happens behind the scenes on inauguration day. To me thats just a dramatic day in our history when one new family moves in another family moves out the public is looking at this west front of the capital and you know that this swearingin ceremony that we all watch, but really behindthescenes theres controlled chaos at the white house. And theres this last inauguration i was fascinated by the obamas taking off in the helicopter as right after President Trump was sworn i

I was saying i had a little surprise for the guests because 100 years ago today United States was preparing to muster 500,000 troops and gear up the war. President wilson had given an ultimatum that we didnt go to war at least not then. That power is on this side of the atlantic. The great menace of the moment i found this on the front page and the next 17 pages and there wasnt a single mentioning if youre a whereas the two featured authors today have on a cold day siege of the real world war. The second floor had the just concluded and now europe was building a deadly confrontation so it is my great pleasure to welcome margaret in the war that ended the piece, as she was describing it and on the far side it showed how it paved the way to understanding what was already building in europe and its been a great pas
