Amidst the recent boom in open-water swimming, there has been much talk about dryrobe wars allegedly happening across South Dublin. As comedian Oliver Callan recently remarked, it had previously only been eccentrics and Protestants who ever braved the cold Irish waters. Now, we have new tribes, characterized respectively as ‘vigilante regulars’ and ‘Class A Trendies’ wearing dryrobes, clashing at the 40 Foot and beyond. The alleged spat has been covered locally and abroad to much hilarity all round.

Curriculum-based learning and complementary content will increase from next week
RTÉ has announced that it is expanding its educational programmes and resources from next week to help support students, parents and educators.
From Monday 11 January, the Home School Hub (10am) and After School Hub (3.20pm) will return to RTÉ2 and the RTÉ Player for three hours daily.
ISL versions of Home School Hub will air on RTÉjr weekdays at 1pm and will also be available on the RTÉ Player.
The ISL programme After School Hub Best Bits will air on Saturdays and Sundays at 6.05pm on RTÉjr from 16 January.
Having travelled home from England in a hazmat suit, elephant keeper Eimear Daly did Christmas in her parents garden and can t wait to be able to hug her mum in 2021.
Determined to make it to Bray for Christmas, Whipsnade zoo elephant keeper Eimear Daly wrapped herself up in PPE for the journey and stayed in her parents garden apartment. It was such a crazy time, said Eimear, who is now back in the UK having arrived on Monday night. Her flight was cancelled and Eimear, who had to get back for work, managed to get a ferry. I then took two trains but made sure I stayed out of London, going via Chester to be on the safe side. As it happened the ferry was pretty empty and no one was on the trains so it was a little less stressful. Just had storm Bella to worry about so I had to spend the journey feeling a little green.
