It follows the European Commission’s call for expression of interest launched in July 2020, with four inter-regional partnerships selected in total. Under the hydrogen project, two partnerships will merge: the European Hydrogen Valleys partnership gathering 12 regions led by Aragon, Auvergne Rhône Alpes, Normandie and Northern Netherlands and the partnership led by Košice Region with four other regions.

De Commissie heeft de winnaars bekendgemaakt van een nieuw door de EU gefinancierd initiatief voor interregionale partnerschappen op vier gebieden: innovatieve oplossingen ter bestrijding van de coronapandemie, een circulaire economie in de gezondheidszorg, duurzaam en digitaal toerisme en waterstoftechnologieën in koolstofintensieve regio s. Het doel van dit nieuwe proefproject - dat voortbouwt op de succesvolle ervaringen met het eind 2017 opgestarte soortgelijke initiatief ter bevordering van interregionale innovatieprojecten - bestaat erin regionale en nationale innovatoren in te schakelen om de gevolgen van de coronapandemie aan te pakken. Het initiatief draagt ook bij tot het herstel door de nieuwe programma s van de Commissie te gebruiken om projecten op nieuwe prioritaire gebieden (bijvoorbeeld gezondheid, toerisme en waterstof) op te schalen.

The aim of this new pilot action, which builds on the successful experience of a similar action on interregional innovation projects launched at the end of 2017, is to mobilise regional and national innovation actors to address the impact of coronavirus. This initiative also helps the recovery using the new Commission programmes through scaling up projects in new priority areas, such as health, tourism or hydrogen.
