Washingtons importance in the National Suffrage effort comes by the fact that we were the first state in the 20th century and followed almost a 20 adoptingbetween state their own suffrage amendment. It takes a certain number of states to pass a National Amendment to the constitution. We were the fifth estate state. About six were located in the west. Washington became a pivotal state making that leap into the 20th century. After we passed it in 1910, there was a domino effect throughout the country. Immediately, oregon passed in 1911, followed by california, and then moved to the dakotas, montana, nebraska. And progressed across to new york in 1919 and then of course the National Amendment passes in 1920. President s life portrait exhibit at the Herbert Hoover president ial library and museum in west branch, iowa. North carolina painter and sculptor created the portraits for cspan in 1999 and recently added president trump. The traveling exhibit created in conjunction with the White House Historical association was brought to the Hoover Library by cspan in partnership with media. The curator shows us the additional artifacts that accompany each of the portraits. Today we are at the Herbert Hoover president ial library in west branch, iowa, and the museum portion of the building. This is our temporary exhibit, which is cspans american president s life portraits. The idea for this to them about from thinking about taking the temporary exhibit from cspan. And then adding something personal from each man to show Something Different about them. We think of them as about the president s, but we want to show them as human beings as well.
