Sweethearts Cafe in Eudlo is an institution of the region with visitors flocking from all over Queensland to sample the homemade treats and bask in the relaxing garden. Sharon Knight and her family took ownership of the cafe in 2017 and haven t looked back, turning it into the must stop for Sunday drivers that it is today. I love working with people and I love cooking but I d never done it before … it was a rude awakening, she said.

Funding war runs off the tracks in Palmwoods

Premium Content Subscriber only A war of words has erupted over the notorious rail bridge junction in Palmwoods with the federal and state governments butting heads over the funding needed to fix the intersection. Calls for the upgrade of the Chevallum Road, Jubilee Drive, Margaret Street and Woombye Palmwoods Road intersection have been growing as the community banded together to demand urgent safety works in the hinterland town. Sunshine Coast Daily has launched the Pave the way for Palmwoods campaign. Nicklin MP Robert Skelton told the Daily the intersection at Chevallum Road and Woombye Palmwoods Road was somewhat of a sticky wicket with any safety upgrades reliant on the North Coast rail duplication.

Sunshine Coast Council James ‘Jim’ Hocking James ‘Jim’ Hocking was born in Nambour as the second child of William and Eva Hocking’s five children. When war was declared in 1939, three Hocking boys were ready to sign up. As soon as Jim turned 18, he enlisted with the Citizens Military Forces before being discharged after four months to take up acceptance in the Royal Australian Air Force in 1942. He was sent to England to train on the heavy bombers of the RAF during World War Two. On July 28, 1944, the 21-year-old RAAF pilot was flying a Stirling Bomber or “flying coffin” during a final training run before heading into battle.
