Coosa Valley RC&D to host seed and fertilizer giveaway
Program is outreach to underserved communities
The Coosa Valley Resource Conservation and Development Council is hosting a seed and fertilizer giveaway for vegetable gardens. Resources will be distributed for 60 people from 10 a.m. to noon July 7 at the Etowah County Extension Office building.
Heidi Richards, executive director of the Coosa Valley RC&D, said the event would traditionally be held indoors with different organizations providing workshops for people to attend and learn more about the different resources provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and its partners. However, because of COVID-19, organizers are doing things differently.

Have you wondered what those terms mean and how that product might be different from ones sitting next to it without colorful logos and labels? There s an upcoming event that wants to help answer those questions, according to a press release.
A food marketing class will be June 2 at the Etowah County Extension Office at 3200A West Meighan Boulevard in Gadsden, according to the release. It will run from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
A team of subject matter experts from Alabama Cooperative Extension will be present to answer questions. The team will present research and science-based information to help those interested to become more educated consumers.
