Announcement of Deltopia Film Is Met With Community Backlash

Described as a coming-of-age drama that is “loosely based on real events from the actual Deltopia,” the film follows a group of high school students who travel to Santa Barbara after finishing their last day of high school to attend the unsanctioned party. County-Appointed IVCSD Director Bob Geis Retires

July 15, 2021 at 4:27 pm by Atmika Iyer Bob Geis, the county-appointed Isla Vista Community Services District director, resigned from his position effective July 14 to join his wife in retirement.  During the Isla Vista Community Services District’s (IVCSD) July 13 meeting, the board unanimously approved a resolution honoring Geis and his work. Geis’ involvement with the IVCSD dates back to 2017, prior to the IVCSD having a revenue source to fund their operations. Aside from his involvement with the CSD, Geis has been heavily involved in Isla Vista over his 40-year career. Geis was the former county auditor-controller and often worked with the Isla Vista Recreation and Park District.

May 23, 2021 at 5:32 pm by Atmika Iyer Following reports of gunshots from Isla Vista residents near Sueno Road, the Isla Vista Foot Patrol pursued a potentially armed suspect late Friday night into early Saturday morning. The fleeing suspect was not apprehended.  Isla Vista Foot Patrol’s (IVFP) Community Resource Deputy Justin Schroeder said that the suspect shot their gun by 6631 Sueno Road. According to Schroeder, the residents of that location refused to provide any information and did not press charges.  Schroeder told the Nexus Saturday morning that IVFP “found a bullet casing, but there were no cooperative witnesses, no damage, no victim and no suspect identified.”
