multi-round battle, thomas. back to you. the consensus has it anywhere between one to three ballots so we will wait on that. that s coming up at 11:00 a.m. sarah, thanks so much. joining me now is nile stanich and melanie from the washington examiner. an article from the hill gives some credence to this division. what are you talking about the division, who is the person that could, i guess, stem the bleed from any of that? well, i mean the division is enclosurely the idea that this is in some ways a proxy war between the bernie sanders or elizabeth warren wing of the democratic party represented by keith ellison and tom perez who s perceived to represent more of the establishment wing. now, those, as your reporter noted, are clearly the front-runners. pete buddigieg has suggested
to cpac. that s going to be donald trump s challenge. he s the first republican since ronald reagan to come to cpac in his first term as president. if what steve bannon said as his strategist, i think we re going to hear fighting word from now president trump. one thing to watch for is how much influence do people like priebus have over this speech, the more moderate, establishment wing of the party. how much does president trump talk about his supreme court nominee, for example, or is he spending time focused on these big ideas, this new world view laid out by stephen bannon yesterday, economic nationalism was a key buzz word, he talked about deconstructing the straigadministrative state and that s part of his priority. that s what we re watching for to give us clue as to who president trump is listening to right now. kasie hunt there or cpac for
state legislature. they move on going forward, which is part of the reason why you are seeing this division between the two front runners in this race for dnc chair. keith ellison on one hand who comes from the bernie sanders wing of the party. the anti-establishment wing. tom perez who was in obama s cabinet, supported hillary clinton, comes from the more establishment wing of the party. flz a lot of other things going on in this race, but that is certainly one big factor at a time when democrats are not very happy about the way the party has been run. i mean, alex, that is the big question. do you stay on this establishment lane, or do you break off and go anti-establishment? you mentioned there s a lot of kind of monday morning quarterbacking going on. what do you see happening here? well, from everything that i have heard from the people who are counting the delegates, this is a very unusual race, we should keep in mind. there s only 447 people who actually get to cast a ballot
in assisted suicide which evangelicals believe is showing them what he will do. perfect choice. united right wing of the party with the establishment wing. from democratic point of view this smart man is going to be very, very difficult for them to filibuster if they and if didn t think he was pro-life wouldn t have made this appoint. he s federal appeals court judge in denver. mom the first under president reagan. delivering on what was arguably his most important campaign promise here. without a doubt. one of the smartest things donald trump did politically during the campaign is put out list of judges he was going to choose from. told everyone.
that s right. you know, when s interesting is early days of trump s ascent to the republican nomination where a lot of establishment republicans were being very critical of donald trump, jons huntsman is a few voices of the establishment group with relatively nice things to say about him and then as the campaign went on and more controversies of donald trump, huntsman s tune changed a little bit and never too far from trump as a candidate. you know, what is interesting about this particular pick at this point is that, you know, obviously, everything that s happened in the past 24 hours with china and taiwan, jon huntsman knows that delicate relationship very well. having served as the ambassador to china. and he is someone that would come from that establishment wing of the water. but, poppy, you know, we are being cautioned not to describe jon huntsman as a front-runner at this point but donald trump will spend more time deliberating this pick and there could be many more names floate
