If Darwin s survival of the fittest theory were to apply to phones in today s age, iPhones could fit the bill seamlessly. In the most recent case of an iPhone s survival, a man from Victoria, jumped into the chilling Victorian waters to rescue his iPhone XS, which was working fine despite being submerged in the water for a few hours.
The man, Roman Czarnomski, was walking on the harbour on February 14 when he stopped to take a picture of the harbour freezing over near the Empress. Czarnomski reportedly took out his iPhone XS when it slipped out of his hands and went straight into the freezing waters of Victoria. Czarnomski waited till the next day when there was light and the tide was relatively low when he jumped into the ice-cold water of Victoria s harbour to rescue his iPhone XS.

Taking video from an airplane window 300 feet up carries its share of risks, discovered Brazilian documentary filmmaker Ernesto Galiotto. The bad news: A strong wind snatched his iPhone 6 from his hand. The good news: GPS enabled him to recover the phone, which suffered only a minor crack in its protective cover. The best news: The phone captured the entire 15-second drop on video. The incident happened over Peró beach 75 miles east of Rio de Janeiro, reported Brazilian news outlet G1.

Ernesto Galiotto shared the video with NDTV.COM that shows the moment he dropped his phone from almost a thousand feet.
Ernesto said In 15 seconds, it hit the ground. It was about 200 meters from the water, it fell with the screen down and kept filming for an hour and a half. I think the sun recharged it, because when we arrived to recover the phone, it still had 16% charge
My luck isn t quite as good as Ernie s. Dropped mine in an airplane toilet once. I retrieved it & only thing I got out of it was a blue hand, a dead iPhone and a tetanus shot.
