Erin Cummings, founder of YESYoga in Sugar Land, has helped create a community of fitness lovers thanks to her offering of free weekly classes at Sugar Land Town Square.Â
But the Kansas native and Wichita State University alumna had to grow a new social network from the ground up in her new home.Â
âIt was just me and my husband when we moved down,â Cummings said. âWe didnât know anyone.â
She said coming to the Houston area was a bit of a culture shock for her, but that she appreciates the opportunity for her two children to be exposed to different cultures and to learn about different people and their stories. Â

City charter
The state legislature grants the village of Utica a city charter. Thus, on February 13th, Utica – population nearly 8,400 becomes the sixth city in the state … after New York (chartered as the city of New Amsterdam in 1653), Albany (1686), Hudson (1785), Schenectady (1798) and Troy (1816).
Utica’s boundaries are from the Bagg’s Square area on the north to the Oneida Square area on the south and from Third Avenue on the east to the York Street area on the west.
Utica will have four wards. The First Ward will be on the northeast corner, the Second Ward on the northwest corner, the Third Ward on the southwest corner and the Fourth Ward on the southeast corner. In March, an election will be held to choose three aldermen from each ward. The 12 aldermen will make up the Common Council and elect the city’s first mayor.
“The
Kumail Nanjiani thing makes me very sad. Our culture has created a system where people attempt to conform to impossible beauty standards to a point where it starts to render them unrecognizable, and then we mock and shame them. Men are not exempt from this,” a popular tweet reads. which promoted an even more viral response.
“Hey Twitter friends! Here’s an ex of what we’re going to try NOT to do in 2021:
Kumail Nanjiani has been minding his business, openly sharing how he & his wife have been isolating because of her medical condition & that he’s been working out a lot at home to prep for a film,” the thread begins.
Fans of Nanjiani were quick to point out that the very people mocking him clearly have zero problems with a body transformation when a white guy named Chris does it. But I guess the same rules don’t apply to him? Sounds about white to me. It should also be noted that it is mostly MAGA supporters and Parler creeps coming after the openly liberal, democratic Nanjiani. But I guess they have nothing to say about Chris Pratt’s body?
Body shaming Kumail Nanjiani for…being jacked? Is way weird. Especially since all the Chris’ have done the same super-soldier program and never got any flack for it. I wonder what the difference is? pic.twitter.com/NIeUf3DwAb
