STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. This year’s spring cleaning for Staten Islanders isn’t just about clearing out the garage or throwing away old clothes. It’s also about cleaning up the community by painting over the abundance of graffiti that covers public spaces across the borough.
On Saturday, hundreds of community volunteers from throughout Staten Island partnered with the NYPD to kick off the department’s “Graffiti Clean-Up” campaign, a new initiative where residents help police identify and eliminate graffiti for the betterment of the community.
