wow. alisyn: up close and personal with mother nature, this footage captured by a storm chaser. joining us is eric treece who also chases tornadoes. eric nice to see you. how close were you in getting your footage of the latest tornadoes? that tornado passed about a half mile to our west. we were fairly safe. i zoomed in on it so it makes it look a little bit closer than it actually was. alisyn: how do you know you were fairly safe. tornadoes can be so random. we watched that storm for about 20 miles to the south and made little adjustments as it made its approach to the north towards bradshaw. when it touched down you can you get a feel for what the storm is doing by looking at the updraft, looking at the rotating wall cloud, and we felt fairly
little bit earlier than when the tornado approached us, because the traction through bradshaw were in the town. we were half a mile north of town. we were obscured from seeing any of that by the trees in the vicinity. alisyn: obviously this tornado didn t hit a town as it did so tragically in joplin. it looks like it s in open fields. does that make your coverage different? is it more risky to be exposed like that? no, actually it s more risky to try and chase it through a town. you ve got stoplights, you ve got unknown amount of traffic. you don t know what the people in the town are going to be doing, like in the joplin situation, that is an extremely dicey situation that even the more experienced chasers probably won t do. i did see the footage that was shot of that and it was amazing. alisyn: it is amazing. eric, what do your loved ones think of your career choice.
