Introduce our speaker Richard Preston did his undergraduate work in english and got his ph. D. In english from princeton university, studied Nineteenth Century american nonfiction writing. He is the author of nine books on a variety of topics including fixes disease. Im also sure that the hot zone inspired many of its readers to consider and pursue careers in epidemiology, vie rolling and Public Health. That fascination fuels curiosity and a lot of what we know today. The most recent mass i outbreak of ebola occurring in west africa has once again propelled the hot zone back onto the National Bestseller list, 20 years after its publication. I have always had a particular fascination for the insidious ingenuity of Infectious Disease and for the dynamics of epidemic infection.
