storage silo, this is in middle river. wjz is on the scene now, kelly mcpherson explains the rescue operation began hours ago. kelly reporter: the man was just pulled out of the silo minutes ago. he s 41-year-olds old and he fell into a silo filled with coal. this is a consolation energy plan that s fueled by coal.he s not an employee, he was a private contractor doing maintenance work on the sigh silo. the man slipped and fell in. and after being inside for hours, he is expected to survive. specialized team from the baltimore fire department arrived on the scene and were able to get the gentleman out of the silo. he had nonlife threatening injuries. he was transported to shock trauma. reporter: at this point we do not know the man s conditions. but as she mentioned he is at shock trauma. it is wor think worthy to know that the trauma shock team was here. they arrive when someone is in critical condition and needs to be taken care of at the scene. and they were here. w
shout shots fir and an officer dragged. it s the start of homecoming weekend. i m doreen gentzler. it happened before 5:30 this evening at baltimore avenue or route 1. the officer was trying to stop two women he thought were shop lifting. jackie bensen has the rest of the story. reporter: the two suspects, both women are hospitalized at this hour with nonlife threatening injuries at the shooting in this very busy parking lot. gunfire scared people. an off duty police officer was working at the rugged warehouse clothing store. he chased two shoplifting suspects, both women, in the the parking lot. the officer attempted to stop them. is suspect of the vehicle tried to drive off with the officer hanging on. the officer fired two rounds, not two rounds, several rounds striking both suspects. reporter: the shopping center is close to the university of maryland s campus. most of them are college students. everyone comes here. cvs is right over there. people come to starbuck
