Fallen officers remembered during annual ceremony YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The 44th annual fallen officer memorial service took place over the weekend honoring the ones who paid the ultimate sacrifice to protect their communities. Agencies from all over the desert southwest coming together as one to remember their fellow brothers and sisters in uniform. “Having all of the law enforcement officers represented all of the agencies represented to not forget those that gave their sacrifices is one of the most important things that we can do. Every May 15 it s just a pleasure being achieved to come out. And remember, those that have given their lives and the families that continue to deal with those types of issues as well,” said San Luis Police chief Rich Jessup.

Law Enforcement Memorial 2021 Published: 26 April 2021 26 April 2021 Yuma, Arizona - On Saturday, May 15th, 2021 the Fraternal Order of Police, Yuma Lodge #24 will host the 44th Annual Peace Officer Memorial Day Services at the location of the Fallen Officer Monument, (Pacific Ave Athletic Complex 1700 E 8th St. Yuma). This annual event is a special time to honor and remember our dedicated law enforcement professionals for their sacrifices in making the Yuma area a safer place to live. The memorial service will start at 7:00 p.m. The one-hour program consists of remembering law enforcement professionals who have either been killed or died in the line of duty, as well as honoring those who still serve.  The Yuma Police Department’s Honor Guard Team will post the United States Flag and conduct a 21-gun salute in remembrance of our fallen brothers and sisters.

Council accepts $5K donation towards homeless abatement

On Dec. 22, the Blythe City Council accepted a $5,000 donation towards preventing and combating local homelessness. “Just to give a little background – I received a phone call last week from a classmate of mine, who wished to remain anonymous. She wanted to donate $5,000 to the city of Blythe homeless program. Which is very generous, and very gracious of her and her family to give this donation,” said Blythe Mayor Dale Reynolds. “It will go towards different projects; whether it be for the HOT (Homeless Outreach Team), to help with some of the issues they may need help with. It will go towards a traveler’s fund – so, if someone gets stranded in the city of Blythe and doesn’t want to become homeless, we can help them get to their destination wherever they may be going.
