Smorgasburg, the popular outdoor food market, is coming to Harborside in Jersey City at the end of the month.
The open-air market, the country s largest weekly outdoor food bazaar, will launch May 29 and operate every Saturday through at least October, said Eric Demby, co-founder of Smorgasburg. This will be the first New Jersey location for the company, which operates in New York City (Williamsburg, Prospect Park, and by the World Trade Center) and Los Angeles. Due to the pandemic, it will also be the first time that Smorgasburg is held in-person since October 2019.
Demby said that the idea of having a Smorgasburg in Jersey City began six years ago when he and his business partner were invited to visit the city by Mayor Steven Fulop. But the stars didn t align then, he said. Still, it s always been on our mind.
